Shelley McDaniel is a California credentialed Special Education teacher, and is also highly qualified to teach Algebra I and Algebra II . She has 3 years teaching experience, 6 years experience as a Special Education Instructional Assistant, and fifteen years continuous experience as a private tutor. She is currently tutoring privately and substitute teaching.
Although her teaching credential is specialized for mild and moderate disabilities, Ms. McDaniel enjoys working with a range of students from ages 4 through adult, with or without special needs. Ms. McDaniel began private tutoring while at school at UC Davis in the 1980s, working with students who were improving their writing skills. As a student she also worked for UC Extension in their English as a Second Language (ESL) program. After college, Ms. McDaniel worked with various agencies improving adult literacy. After entering the field of education, Ms. McDaniel continued to tutor privately. She has experience with language acquisition, reading acquisition, reading skills, phonics and reading comprehension, and is a certified Reading Specialist. As well, she frequently tutors math students through high school Algebra II, or college Intermediate Algebra.
Ms. McDaniel earned her teaching credential through Fortune School of Education. She has passed the CSET for Multiple Subjects and Mathematics (Algebra), and is continuing her study to become highly qualified to teach other core subjects. In addition, she has passed the CBEST and RICA, and is fingerprinted through the California Department of Justice.
